I apologize to those who religiously read my blog and expect me to update daily (ahem, mom). The French countryside has limited Internet access, and my .com deprivation is not severe enough to sacrifice my digestive system and eat/use wifi at McDonald's. I promise I'll be better!
Our weekend was amazing, and it's not even over. We left Lyon Thursday in our rental car (we're experienced French drivers, ya know) and began our journey to the Chablis village of France. Never heard of Chablis? Try to type it in an apple product- they autocorrect it to Chablis.
Side note: French highways are very different than American. Here, you can only get on and get off the interstates in major cities. The reason? You must pay every time you get on and get off. This is totally reasonable. Wait, not at all; it's totally inconvenient and obnoxious. Anyway, no one ever speaks English at these things, and apparently, are not fans of google translate. Get with the times, peeps.
I'm not going into details without pictures (uploaded tomorrow), but just know Chablis is the most amazing village ever. We went on a wine tour in some of the most famous vineyards in France and had an awesome time.
Lesson learned in Chablis: when you have 15 wines to taste during a tasting, don't swallow every glass.
Our next move was to Dijon, France. Why? Because I love mustard more than anyone. Actually, that's not true; Dijon just seemed like a good idea. It's big and marvelous, with great sightseeing.
Lesson learned in Dijon: to be continued...
During all of this, France is celebrating some holiday this weekend. I'd equate it to Mardi Gras. There are thousands of people everywhere, screaming and drinking. More on that tomorrow.
Finally, a note on French men: they cat call. Yes, the Fonzi-Happy-Days cheesy whistle. French men are apparently so floored by me that they resort to a 1950s-style gesture of appreciation. Who knew?
Tomorrow is our last day in this region, then it's on to Lyon to likely disappoint Fussy and Misunderstood.
To be continued.
